4 Spartans Named to All-Academic Team for Cross Country

Keeley Bateman, Sarah Callagy, Joseph Chegwidden and Michael Galonski have been named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for the 2011 Cross Country season.  The four selected were not only standouts in the classroom, but also the programs top four runners this year.

Bateman, as a sophomore is a two-time recipient of the award.  This year she took 1st Team All-Conference honors and was the school's first ever All-Region selection.  Bateman finished 19th at the NCAA DII East Regional and 3rd in the ECC Championship.

Callagy is recieving the award for the third consecutive year.  In her senior campaign, Callagy was a 2nd Team All-Conference selection.  She finished 46th in the NCAA East Regional race and 9th in the ECC Championship.

Chegwidden recieves this award in his first year as a Spartan.  He was named to the  2nd Team All-Conference.  Chegwidden finished 41st at the NCAA East Regional and 9th at the ECC Championship.

Sophomore Michael Galonski is a first time recipient of the award.  Galonski was a 2nd Team All-Conference honoree.  He finished 50th at the NCAA East Regional and 12th at the ECC Championship.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team in Division II, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or greater through the most-recent semester, completed at least 12 credit hours in the semester of cross country competition, and placed in the top 50 percent at the most recent NCAA National Championships or in the top 30 percent at the NCAA Regional Championships.

This will be the 3rd time Sarah Callagy has gotten this award and 2nd Time getting this award for Keeley Bateman.  On the men's side this will be the 1st time for both student athletes to get this award.
