5 Spartan Runners Earn All-Conference Honors

After a 2nd place team finish at the ECC Women's Cross Country Championship, sophomore Keeley Bateman was named to the ECC All-Conference 1st Team, while senior Sarah Callagy and freshman Catherine Sandkuhl notched ECC All-Conference 2nd Team honors.  Joseph Chegwidden and Michael Galonski were named to the ECC All-Conference 2nd Team after the men's squad earned a 3rd place finish in the men's championship race.

Bateman has had a stellar season finishing first for the Lady Spartans in three of the Spartans six races this season.  Bateman finished 3rd in the ECC Championship setting the Lady Spartans up for their 2nd place finish.  She also notched a 2nd place finish at the NJIT Highlander Challenge which led to a 2nd place team finish.  This is Bateman's 2nd time on the first team in as many years after being named the Rookie of the Year in 2010.

Callagy has led STAC for four seasons and has set the pace for the program.  Callagy holds the school 5K record with a time of 19:05.  She was the first Lady Spartan finisher in three races in the 2011 season.  Callagy was named ECC Runner of the Week Honorable Mention twice this season.  A few of Callagy's top races include a 1st Place finish at the SPartan Alumni Run, a 6th place finish at the  C.W. Post Invitational (2nd place team finish) and a 9th place finish at the ECC Championship.  Callagy has earned All-Conference Honors for four consecutive years and was the 2010 ECC Runner of the Year.

Sandkuhl competed in her first ever cross country season in 2011.  As a former soccer player, she has established herself as key competitor in the ECC.  Sandkuhl was named Rookie of the Week after clocking a 19:51 at the NJIT Highlander Challenge.  She earned a 12th place finish at the ECC Championship.

Chegwidden was the first finisher for the Spartans in four of the six 2011 races.  He has steadily improved throughout the season taking the lead after the first two races.  Chegwidden was named Rookie of the Week following a strong performance at the Brooks Paul Short Invitational.  He ran a personal best 26:50 at the ECC Championship which was good for 9th place.

Galonski earned All-Conference honors for the second consecutive year.  He was the first Spartan finisher in two of the team race this season.  His 2011 season is highlighted by a 2nd place finish at the C.W. Post Invitational where he ran a 26:26 and 12th place finish at the ECC Championship.
