Lady Spartans Picked 2nd, Men Ranked 3rd

According to the East Coast Conference Pre Season Poll, the St. Thomas Aquinas Lady Spartans have been chosen to finish 2nd in the conference, while the men landed the 3rd place spot.  These numbers, voted on  by the coaches in the conference, reflect both squads 2011 finishes, but the Spartans are looking to make a statement in 2012.

The Lady Spartans lost four seniors to graduation, but are still lead by junior Keeley Bateman.  Bateman finished third in the ECC Championship and 19th in the NCAA East Regional earning 1st Team All Conference and All-Region honors.  Julia Karl, a 2010 All-Conference runner returns to the roster after playing soccer in 2011.  A strong freshmen class should give the Lady Spartans a lift and provide the necessary support to be competitive within the region.

The men are looking to build upon the reputation built in 2011 with all but member of the roster returning.  The All-Conference duo of junior Michael Galonski and sophmore Joseph Chegwidden are expected to set the pace.  The experienced core is ready to move the program to the next level and is joined by three talented freshmen that will make an immediate impact.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program will hit the trails at Van Cortlandt Park in the Fordham Fiasco on September 8th.
