Lady Spartans Move up to 6th in East Region

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's cross country team is ranked 6th in the East Region in the latest USTFCCCA Poll.  This is the highest ranking for the Lady Spartans in their NCAA DII history.  The ranking follows a 1st Place finish at the Highlander XC Technology Challenge last weekend.  The Lady Spartans made their first appearance in the poll last week at number 10.

STAC has been led by by Katie O'Grady and Meaghan Ventarola in every race this season.  O'Grady broke the Spartan 5K school record on Saturday with her 4th place finish in 18:40.  Freshman Kristen Borriello has made major contributions as the consistent number three.  With a deep talent pool, the other scoring positions have rotated with different runners stepping up each week.  Junior Gabriella Sloezen is having a strong season, dropping her times each race.  Graduate student Allison Borriello has also had a big impact on the Lady Spartans success.
