STAC Cross Country Teams Take Top Spots Among Division II Competitors to Open Season at Fordham Fiasco

On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed at the Fordham University Fiasco/Ed Joyce Memorial. Both squads finished first among the field of Division II competitors participating in the respective races at Van Cortland Park in Bronx, NY and fifth overall in event.

For the men, Matt Tina was the top finisher on the day with a time of 28:53.7 (28th place). Following Tina in order of finish were: Daniel Agostinho-Vides (29:26.5), James Polisena (29:53.5), Andrew Drescher (30:24.6), Jorge Dutan (31:14.7), Alex Quillan (31:23.5) and Kieran Keenan (36:01.7).

Meanwhile, Abagaile Kimbrell was the top women's finisher on the afternoon with a time of 20:09.2 (10th place). Following Kimbrell in order of finish were: Sklyar Moreno (21:38.0), Christina Maretzo (21:44.0), Ciara Durcan (21:54.2), Gabriella Mott (21:57.5), Madison Roth (22:08.2), Grace Gregory (22:41.0), Lesly Marcin (22:46.3), Ruby Pekin-Schlicht (23:37.1) and Emma Neil (27:20.4).

The Spartans will next compete at the Bard College Fred Pavlich Invitational in Annandale-On-Hudson, NY on Saturday, September 18. The men's 8K meet will begin at 11 am, with the women's 6K event slated to begin at 12 pm.
