Women's Cross Country Places Fourth, Men Sixth at NJIT Highlander Challenge

On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed in the NJIT Highlander Challenge at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. The Women's squad took home a fourth place finish in the event, while the men's team posted a sixth place finish.

For the women, Abagaile Kimbrell was the top finisher on the afternoon with a time of 18:08.29 (3rd place). Following Kimbrell in order of finish were: Madison Roth (19:42.42), Ciara Durcan (19:59.17), Grace Gregory (20:12.53), Christina Maretzo (20:16.11), Ruby Pekin-Schlicht (21:30.73), Emma Neil (22:48.91) and Nicole Gysin (26:04.44).

Meanwhile, Daniel Agostinho-Vides was the top finisher on the day for the men with a time of 26:37.59 (18th place). Following Agostinho-Vides in order of finish were: Matt Tina (26:53.90), Andrew Drescher (27:46.12), Jorge Dutan (27:58.99), Thomas Bovenberg (28:12.42), Charlie Moore (28:14.18), Alex Quillan (28:22.91), Jack Terry-Kantor (29:00.38) and James Polisena (29:09.88).

The Spartans will next compete at the St. Joseph's College Golden Eagle Invitational on Sunday, October 10. The meet takes place at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, NY and will begin at 11 am.
