Women's Cross Country Records Second Straight First Place Finish, While Men Take Second at St. Joseph's College Invitational

On Saturday afternoon, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed at the St. Joseph's College Invitational. The women's squad finished first overall for the second consecutive week, while the men's team took second place at races contested at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y.

In the women's race, Abagaile Kimbrell was the top finisher on the day with a time of 19:18.15, which was good for second place. Following Kimbrell in order of finish were: Ciara Durcan (20:53.79/5th Place), Lesly Marcin (21:11.13/7th Place), Madison Roth (21:13.18/8th Place), Christina Maretzo (21:21.17/9th Place), Gabriella Mott (21:25.73), Skylar Moreno (21:58.85), Sofia Echeverria (22:33.17), Ruby Pekin-Schlicht (23:58.02) and Nicole Gysin (28:30.55).

Meanwhile, Matt Tina was the top men's finisher on the afternoon with a time of 28:54.32 (8th place). Following Tina in order of finish were: Andrew Drescher (29:17.97), Daniel Agostinho-Vides (29:51.81), Jorge Dutan (30:37.07), Alex Quillan (30:51.85), Charlie Moore (31:05.08), James Polisena (31:41.81), Jack Terry-Kantor (32:17.26) and Kieran Keenan (36:48.72).

The Spartans next compete at the East Coast Conference Championships on Saturday, October 23. The women's and men's races will be hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College at the Matt St. James Cross Country Trails in Rochester, N.Y.
