Women's Cross Country Places Third, Men Seventh at Adelphi Short-Course Showdown

Farmingdale, N.Y. - On Friday, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed in the Adelphi University Short-Course Showdown at Bethpage Polo at the Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. In a preview of the upcoming NCAA Division II East Regional Championships on November 19, the Women's squad took home a third place finish in the event, while the men's team posted a seventh place finish.

Skylar Moreno was the top STAC finisher on the day with a time of 19:59.4, taking 16th overall in the women's 5K race. Following Moreno in order of finish were: Lesly Marcin (19:59.5), Gabriella Mott (20:22.9), Madison Roth (20:45.4), Ciara Durcan (20:48.9), Sophia Echeverria (22:11.9), Samantha Frisbee (22:39.4), Nicole Gysin (23:29.9), Ciara Doyle (26:26.0) and Adrian Schepis (30:01.6).

Meanwhile, Andrew Drescher was the top Spartan finisher on the afternoon with a time of 16:10.7, placing 23rd in the men's 8K event. Following Drescher in order of finish were: James Hughes (17:02.2), Charlie Moore (17:19.6), Alex Quillan (17:20.5), James Polisena (17:27,6), Jack Terry-Kantor (17:52.6), John Ciuffo (18:01.8), Michael Califore (18:20.9), Kieran Keenan (18:32.8), Kyle Koenig (19:16.4) and Sebastian Cherry (22:32.0).

STAC next hosts its annual alumni run on Saturday, October 22 at Tallman Mountain State Park in Sparkill, NY, before heading to Rochester for the East Coast Conference Championships on Saturday, November 5 (10:00 a.m.) at Roberts Wesleyan University.
