Women's Cross Country Finishes Third, Men Fourth at ECC Championships with Two Spartans Earning All-Conference Honors

Rochester, N.Y. - On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed in the East Coast Conference Championships, which were hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College at the Matt St. James Cross Country Trails in Rochester. STAC's Women's squad posted a third place finish in the 5K race, while the men's team placed fourth in the 8K race.

For the women, Skylar Moreno was the top finisher on the day for the with a time of 19:30.3 (7th place). Following Moreno in order of finish were: Lesly Marcin (19:46.5), Ciara Durcan (20:25.6), Gabriella Mott (20:57.0), Madison Roth (21:06.2), Samantha Frisbee (22:07.0), Sofia Echeverria (23:01.7), Nicole Gysin (23:37.5), Ciara Doyle (26:26.8) and Adrian Schepis (30:49.4).

Meanwhile on the men's side, Andrew Drescher was the top finisher on the afternoon with a time of 28:07.3 (19th place). Following Drescher in order of finish were: James Hughes (28:54.2), Charlie Moore (29:10.1), Alex Quillan (29:33.4), James Polisena (30:06.0), Kieran Keenan (30:16.7), John Ciuffo (30:18.1), Jack Terry-Kantor (30:31.3), Michael Califore (30:47.8) and Kyle Koenig (33:31.4).

Following the men's and women's races, the East Coast Conference presented their annual league awards. Spartans Skylar Moreno (1st Team) and Lesly Marcin (2nd Team) received All-Conference honors for their exceptional efforts in the ECC Championship meet.

 

St. Thomas Aquinas will next compete at the NCAA Division II East Regional Cross Country Championships, which will also be hosted by Adelphi University on November 19 at Bethpage Polo at the Park in Farmingdale, N.Y.
