Women's Cross Country Finishes First, Men Place Second at Golden Eagle Invitational

Farmingdale, N.Y. - On Friday afternoon, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed at the St. Joseph's College Golden Eagle Invitational. The women's squad finished first overall for the third consecutive week, while the men's team took second place in races contested at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y.

Skylar Moreno was the top STAC finisher on the day with a time of 19:38.66, taking third overall in the women's 5K race. Following Moreno in order of finish were: Lesly Marcin (20:00.78/6th place), Ciara Durcan (20:10.39/8th place), Madison Roth (20:44.35), Gabriella Mott (20:55.37), Sophia Echeverria (21:23.40), Samantha Frisbee (23:02.75), Nicole Gysin (23:21.39) and Ciara Doyle (26:30.34).

Meanwhile, Andrew Drescher was the top Spartan finisher on the afternoon with a time of 26:53.33, placing 6th in the men's 8K event. Following Drescher in order of finish were: James Hughes (27:15.06/9th place), James Polisena (28:26.31), Alex Quillan (28:42.48), John Ciuffo (28:50.36), Kieran Keenan (29:31.86), Michael Califore (29:59.82), Thomas Bovenberg (30:51.69) and Charlie Moore (32:54.22).

The Spartans next compete at the NJIT Highlander Cross Country Challenge on Saturday, October 8 (11:00 a.m.) at Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J.
