Merryman Records Top Ten Finish, as Spartans Compete in Bard/Fred Pavlich Invite

Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. - Fighting the tough weather conditions associated with Tropical Storm Ophelia, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed at the Bard College/Fred Pavlich Invitational. The women's team finished fifth overall, with Zoe Merryman taking home a top ten individual finish. The men's squad placed 10th overall in Saturday's race.

Zoe Merryman was the top STAC finisher on the day with a time of 23:09.4, placing eighth in the women's 6K race. Following Merryman in order of finish were: Ciara Durcan (25:22.7), Isabella Esposito-Farino (27:27.2), Jacqueline Kelly (27:37.8), Samantha Frisbee (28:38.8), Kristen Kennedy (29:35.2), Nicole Gysin (30:15.2), Emma Neil (30:55.4), Veronica Valentik (31:11.6) and Ciara Doyle (32:59.7).

Meanwhile, Charlie Moore was the top Spartan finisher on the afternoon with a time of 29:35.3, holding the 81st position in the men's 8K event. Following Moore in order of finish were: James Polisena (29:44.8), Nick Seitz (30:27.8), Alex Quillan (31:43.1), Kyle Koenig (32:35.9) and Ian Forsyth (34:33.0).

Next up for St. Thomas Aquinas, it's the St. Joseph's University Golden Eagle Invitational on Friday, September 29 at Bethpage State Park in Bethpage, N.Y.
