Zoe Merryman has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week on Monday, following the Spartans season opening race, the LIU Fall Festival, which took place on Saturday in Brookville, N.Y.
In her collegiate debut, Merryman (Mahwah, N.J.) finished 16th in a field of 141 runners at the LIU Fall Festival. Competing against Division I programs and paced by an average mile of 6:21.2, Merryman completed her first collegiate 5k in 19:44.4 to cross as the ECC’s fastest rookie at the meet.
The Spartans will next compete at the Manhattan College Jasper Fall Cross Country Invitational, which will be held on Saturday, September 16 at Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, N.Y.
