St. Thomas Aquinas College's Pedro Mulero Martinez and Gianna Mauri were named the East Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Runner and Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week respectively on Tuesday, following the Spartans latest meet, the Lehigh University Paul Short Run which took place last Friday at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Mulero Martinez (Lorca, Spain) was the top Spartan finisher, placing 99th in the men's 8k race with a time of 28:22.1, while also helping his team to a 27th-place overall finish.

Mauri (Farmingville, N.Y.) was the top STAC finisher, placing 163rd in the women's 6k race with a time of 26:39.3, while also helping her team to a 30th-place overall finish.

The Spartans will next compete at the NJIT Highlander Invitational on Saturday, October 11. The meet takes place at Branch Brook Park in Newark, New Jersey, and will begin with the men's race at 11:15 p.m., followed by the women at 12:00 p.m.
