St. Thomas Aquinas golfer Niklas Koerner shot a 73 in his opening round at the Jones Course at Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Conover, North Carolina. Koerner shot one over on both the front and the back to put him at two over for the day and tied for 34th place.
After paring his first hole to start the NCAA Finals, Koerner ran inot some trouble on the 11th hole where he recorded a triple bogie. The senior recovered nicely with a birdie on 12 and after five straight pars he birdied the 18th hole to finish his first nine 1-over par. Koerner birdie the first hole and had six more pars for a solid round of 73.
Koerner will tee off at 8:26 a.m. on Tuesday starting on hole 1.
