Nationally Ranked Spartans Set For NCAA Championship

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's golf team are set to play in the NCAA Championship beginning on Tuesday morning, at Green Valley Ranch in Denver, Colorado.  The Spartans are currently ranked 20th in the country according to the Golf Coaches Association of America and the Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll.  

STAC is playing in its sixth National Championship tournament since 2009 when the Spartans advanced for the first time in programs history.  The Spartans are coming off a first place finish at the NCAA Super Regional on May 4th.  Senior Christopher Gentle finished in first place after a three round total of 3-under par.  Gentle's best performance of the tournament came during his second round when he carded nine birdies on the day and posted an 8-under, 64.  

The Division II National Championship Festival will begin on Sunday with a dinner and then a practice round on Monday.  The finals are hosted by Metroploitan State University of Denver.  The Spartans will tee off Tuesday morning for their first round.  

Tee Times will be posted through our web site and the golfstat web site and viewers can follow the live leaderboard throughout the day on Tuesday.
