STAC Golf Advances to NCAA Division II Championship with Third Place Finish at East/Atlantic Super Regional

Wheeling, W.Va. - The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Golf team will be making a tenth NCAA National Championship appearance after finishing third at the East/Atlantic NCAA Super Regional at the Oglebay Resort: Jones Golf Course in Wheeling, West Virginia. The Spartans shot rounds of 300-300-289 in the three-day event, which concluded on Saturday, leaving them just two shots shy of runner-up University of Charleston.

Joining St. Thomas Aquinas and Charleston at the Division II NCAA National Championship are Gannon University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Post University, as the top five super regional finishers now head to Winter Garden, Florida and the beautiful Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge. The Spartans will be looking to secure their first-ever national title, when they take to the links May 21-25.

Individually, Junior Djaia Darrason led STAC for the regional and finished tied for fourth place overall, shooting a total of 217 (71, 75, 71), which was good for 4-over par. Tanner Little (222: 74, 74, 74) +9/T14th, Juan Ignacio Simon (224: 76, 77, 71) +11/T21st, Nolan Skaggs (229: 82, 74, 73) +16/T35th and Diego Ocasio (232: 79, 79, 74) +19/T49th rounded out the Spartans scoring.
