Spartans Set For 2022 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship

The St. Thomas Aquinas Golf team is set to tee off at the 2022 NCAA Division II Golf Championship on Monday morning, with the first Spartan Golfer getting underway at approximately 10:26 a.m from hole one. The NCAA Championship will be played at TPC Michigan in Dearborn, and features twenty teams and eight student-athletes.

The National Championships feature three rounds of stroke play (54 holes), with one round each day, Monday through Wednesday (May 16-18) beginning at 7:30 a.m. Pairings for the first two rounds are pre-determined, and the third round pairings will be based on team scores up to that point. The top eight teams then move on to match play (May 19-20) and will be seeded one through eight based on their finish in the stroke play portion of the tournament.

The national quarterfinals are Thursday morning, with the top seed playing against the eight seed, the second seed facing the seventh, the third seed facing the sixth, and the fourth seed facing the fifth. Golfers will compete head-to-head based on lineup position determined prior to the quarterfinals. Teams receive one point for each win by their individual golfers with a maximum of five points. The four winning teams Thursday morning will be right back on the course that afternoon for the national semifinals, and the championship match is scheduled for Friday.
