St. Thomas Aquinas alumni, Chris Fitzpatrick, finished in 2nd place in the 104th Massachusetts Open Championship last week. Fitzpatrick, a four year standout on the Spartan golf team, shot 73, 69, 69, finishing 5-under for the tournament and forcing the 17th playoff in the history of the event.
St. Thomas Aquinas golfers, Niklas Koerner and Kai Rastetter were named to the NCAA Division II Ping All-Region Team announced by the Golf Coaches Association on Friday, May 31st. Both players were instrumental in the Spartans success on the course this year.
The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team finished in 6th place in the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional being held in Wheeling, WV. The Spartans had the best team round on day three posting a team score of 297 behind a 72 from Chris Gentle and a 73 from Kai Rastetter.
The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team tied for 5th place after round one of the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regionals being held in Wheeling, WV. STAC shot a team score of 310 lead by Thomas Linehan who posted a 75 in day one, to tie for 6th overall. Kai Rastetter is currently tied for 13th after carding at 76.
The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team is competing at the NCAA Division II Super Regionals held in West Virginia. The Spartans will compete Monday through Wednesday and you can follow the live leaderboard.
Junior first baseman Kenny Kirshner has been named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week. He is joined by freshman Robert Naughton who was tabbed Rookie of the week. Their strong play contributed to the Spartans 7-0 week.
Senior Mike Russo has been named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week for his play in a perfect week for the Spartan Baseball team. Junior Robert Frank was named Pitcher of the Week for his performance in a 6-0 victory against Mercy College.
The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's golf team finished in 3rd place at the Manhattanville Spring Invitational. Christopher Gentle finished tied for 3rd, posting a two day score of 148 (74, 74). Kai Rastetter and Niklas Koerner finished in 9th and 10th place respectively, shooting a two day score of 150 and 151.
The St. Thomas Aquinas golf team is currently ranked #1 in the East Region. Niklas Koerner, Kai Rastetter and Thomas Lineham are currently ranked among the top 15 in the region. Koerner leads STAC with a scoring average of 74.77 and is currently ranked 4th in the region. Rastetter is ranked 7th and Linehan is 15th in the East Region.
The St. Thomas Aquinas College Golf team finished 3rd at the St. James Plantation Spring Invitational in Southport, NC hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The tournament was compromised of the top ranked teams from the Atlantic region including IUP, California University of Pennsylvania and Concord University.
The St. Thomas Aquinas Men’s golf team finished second in their first event of the 2013 spring season. Niklas Koerner led the Spartans with a two day score of 147 shooting; 72, 75, which was good for an 2nd place finish overall.
The St. Thomas Aquinas golf team shot a team score of 300 to win the Charger Classic, hosted by Dominican College at the Spook Rock Golf Course. Kai Rastetter shot rounds of 73, 72 to win the tournament. Anthont Berardo and Thomas Linehan finished tied for 5th with two day totals of 151.
The St. Thomas Aquinas golf team stand alone with a nine stroke lead in the Dominican College Charger Classic Tournament. The two day event is being played at Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, N.Y. Kai Rastetter leads the Spartans tied for first place with an opening round of 73. Anthony Berardo is in 3rd after carding a 75 on Sunday.
The St. Thomas Aquinas golf team finished in 3rd place in the Howard "Bud" Elwell Fall Classic hosted by Gannon University. Thomas Linehan and Niklas Koerner finished tied for 3rd place with a two day score of 149. The Spartans shot a team score of 613, which was 14 strokes off the leaders, Humber.
The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team had a tough second round at the Kiawah Island Fall Invitational. With morning rain and heavy winds, the Spartans struggled as a team. Leading the team on day two was sophomore Niklas Koerner, who was the only Spartan to shot a sub-80 round, posting a 78.
The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team finished round one of the Kiawah Island Fall Invitational in a tie for 5th place after posting a team score of 291. Hosted by USC Aiken, the Invitational has a field of some of the the top Division II teams in the country. Leading the Spartans in round one was junior Tommy Linehan who posted a stellar round of 69 (-3).
The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team finished 4th out of 15 teams at the Rutgers Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Spartans finished with a three round team score of 888, which was 12 strokes off the leaders, USC Upstate. Kai Rastetter finished in 13th place with a total of 221 for the event.
