  • Spartans Chosen for Prestigious Virgin Media Experience

    Three Spartan student-athletes were chosen to represent St. Thomas Aquinas College in a study trip to London where they experienced the work environment and culture of Virgin Media for one week. Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field runners Lisa Brevogel and Sarah Callagy and Men’s Basketball player Flynn McFadden were three of the five students chosen for the prestigious all-expenses paid trip.
  • Spartan Cross Country Squads Awarded Academic Honors

    Both the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams have earned 2011 USTFCCCA All-Academic status. These academic honors follow strong athletic seasons by both squads with the women taking 2nd place in the ECC and the men finishing 3rd in the conference.

    Keeley Bateman, Sarah Callagy, Joseph Chegwidden and Michael Galonski have been named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for the 2011 Cross Country season. The four selected were not only standouts in the classroom, but also the programs top four runners this year.
  • Bateman Named to Women's Cross Country All-Region Team

    Sophomore Keeley Bateman is the first Lady Spartan in cross country program history to be honored as an USTFCCA All-Region Team member. Bateman garnered the honor following a 19th place finish at the 2011 NCAA DII East Regional race on Sunday.
  • Women take 14th in NCAA East Region; Men Nab 15th

    Sophomore Keeley Bateman set the STAC 6K record of 23:28 at the NCAA East Regional. She helped the Lady Spartans to a 14th place team finish, which is a program best at the NCAA DII level. Freshman Joe Chegwidden led the Spartans to their 15th place finish crossing the line in 33:29. The regionals were held at Franklin Park in Boston, MA.
  • Coach Gangemi Takes on the NYC Marathon with Team MEB

    Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field coach and former Spartan standout, Andrew Gangemi, will run the 2011 ING New York City Marathon for Team MEB. Gangemi has trained with the Spartan cross country program throughout this season and is ready to take on the 26.2 mile challenge.
  • 5 Spartan Runners Earn All-Conference Honors

    Sophomore Keeley Bateman was named to the ECC Women's Cross Country All-Conference 1st Team while senior Sarah Callagy and freshman Catherine Sandkuhl notched ECC All-Conference 2nd Team honors. Joseph Chegwidden and Michael Galonski were named to the ECC Men's Cross Country All-Conference 2nd Team.

    At the 2011 ECC Cross Country Championships, sophomore Keeley Bateman and senior Sarah Callagy helped the women secure a 2nd place finish. Led by freshman Joe Chegwidden and sophomore Mike Galonski, the men's cross country team took 3rd place.

    Catherine Sandkuhl was named the East Coast Conference Cross Country Rookie of the Week. Sandkuhl ran a personal best 19:51 at the NJIT Highlander Challenge at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ.

    Led by sophomore Keeley Bateman, the Lady Spartan cross country team finished in 2nd place, while the men took 5th with Joe Chegwidden crossing the line first. Five members of the women's team recorded personal records.
  • Chegwidden Named Rookie of the Week

    Freshman Joseph Chegwidden was named ECC Cross Country Rookie of the Week for his performance at the Paul Short Invitational. Chegwidden was the first Spartan to finish the 8K course in 27:41.
  • Spartans Step Up for Hurricane Irene Victims

    The STAC cross country team donated articles of clothing to the victims of Hurricane Irene in Owego, New York. Owego is the hometown of senior Chelsea Klinger who started the innitiative to make a difference.
  • Records Set at Spartan Alumni Run

    The 1st Annual Spartan Alumni Race took place on Saturday at Tallman Mountain State Park. Senior Sarah Callagy set the Lady Spartan 5K record of 19:02 with her 1st place finish. This tops sophomore Keeley Bateman's record of 19:10 in the 2010 season.
  • Lady Spartans Ranked #10 in East Region

    The STAC Women's Cross Country team was ranked #10 in the East Region according to the USTFCCCA Division II poll released today. The Lady Spartans are coming off a 2nd place finish in the C.W. Post Invitational last weekend.

    The STAC women's cross country team earned a second place finish at the C.W. Post Invitational in Brookville, NY. Senior Sarah Callagy led the way with a 6th place finish in 19:20. In the men's 8K race, sophomore Mike Galonski crossed the line in 2nd place in 26:26.
  • Spartan Cross Country Supports Rockland Runners

    The STAC Cross Country team volunteered at the 23rd Annual South Nyack 10-Miler Race hosted by the Rockland Roadrunners. The Spartans provided support and cold drinks to the race participants at a water station located on the Piermont pier. All proceeds from the event were donated to local organizations including the South Nyack and Piermont Volunteer Fire Departments, the Nyack Ambulance Corp, and the Nyack Soup Kitchens.
  • Spartan Runners Open Season at Fordham Fiasco

    The St. Thomas Aquinas College cross country program opened the 2011 season at the Fordham Fiasco at Van Cortlandt Park. Sophomore Mike Galonski was the first finisher for the men in 26:39. Senior Sarah Callagy was the first Lady Spartan to cross the line in 22:23.
  • Lady Spartans Earn Top PreSeason Honors, Callagy Tabbed PreSeason Runner of the Year

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's cross country team was ranked #1 in the East Coast Conference Preseason Poll coming off their first place finish in last season's conference championship. Senior Sarah Callagy was named the ECC Preseason Runner of the Year. The men were ranked 6th in this years preseason poll.
