  • Spartans Host 1st Alumni Game

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team hosted its first alumni game at the Tourn Valley Sports Complex. Sixteen alumni participated in the event to play against the current Spartans. The event was a great opportunity for the players to build connections and reflect on the strong foundation that was built into the Spartan Soccer program.
  • Hernandez Named Second Team All ECC

    St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer player Chris Hernandez was named to the East Coast Conference Second Team. The junior midfielder and co-captain helped lead the Spartans to a 7-9-1 record this season. Hernandez scored two goals and added an assist this season.
  • Spartans Blast Griffins, 6-0

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat visiting Chestnut Hill College, 6-0 in this afternoon's game. The Spartans received goals from seniors Jesse Trajkovski and Jon Michael Nabais who were two of the three seniors honored in a pre-game ceremony for their senior day.
  • STAC Loses 2-0 at Dowling

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 game at Dowling yesterday afternoon. The Golden Lions scored their first goal off a penalty kick twenty minutes into the game. STAC played them tough throughout the majority of the game as they had equal shots and one more save than Dowling.
  • Daniel Davren Named ECC Rookie of the Week

    St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer player Daniel Davren was named this weeks ECC Rookie of the Week. The freshman scored two goals and had two assists in the Spartans 2-0 week. Davren scored the second goal of the game to give STAC a 2-0 advantage over Queens and later assisted on the third goal. He also put STAC on the scoreboard in the opening minutes of play against Nyack then added an assist later in the second half. He leads the Spartans with fourteen points on four goals and six assists.
  • Spartans Blast Warriors, 3-0
    October 23, 2009
    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat Nyack College 3-0 in today's contest. STAC received goals from Daniel Davren, Remington Lee and Brendan Flynn. Sophomore goal keeper Nicholas Croce recorded six saves in the shutout. Davren added an assist along with junior captain, Chris Hernandez.
  • Spartans Hold Off Knights for 3-2 Win

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat Queens College in this afternoons game. Renan Lopes scored the first goal for STAC with a little over one minute remaining in the first half off an assist by William Miller. Lopes leads STAC with five goals for the season. Daniel Davren and Remington Lee also scored for the Spartans as they knocked off the Knights, 3-2.
  • Pioneers Beat Spartans, 2-0

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team lost to C.W. Post, 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans played a tough game and had good looks on goal but were unable to score. STAC had seventeen shots for the game, seven of which came from Daniel Davren. Renan Lopes added four and Jesse Trajkovski and James Earl each added three.
  • Spartans Fall to Mercy, 1-0

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team lost to Mercy College, 1-0. The Spartans played a hard fought game outshooting the Mavericks 20-11. James Earl and Chris Hernandez each had three shots on goal that were saved by Mercy goalie Martin Walsh. Nicholas Croce had four saves for the Spartans.
  • NYIT's Quick Start Tops Spartans

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team lost a 4-1 game at home to NYIT in the afternoon's ECC contest. The Spartans goal came off the long throw in of Daniel Davren that was knocked in by Chris Hernandez. Davren, Hernandez and Edgar Barragan continued to pressure on the NYIT defense but were unable to score off their combined four shot attempts. Sophomore Nicholas Croce had one save for STAC.
  • Bridgeport Outlast Late Spartan Attack

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team lost a 2-1 game to the University of Bridgeport this afternoon. STAC went down 2-0 before freshman Daniel Davren connected on a long goal from outside the box. The Spartans rallied hard in the final minutes of play outshooting Bridgeport 4-1 in the final minutes in the game. James Earl had the assist on Davrens goal. Sophomore goalie Nicholas Croce had four saves.
  • Croce Named ECC Defensive Player of the Week

    St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer goal keeper Nicholas Croce was named this weeks East Coast Conference defensive player of the week. Croce helped the Spartans post a 2-0 record on the week. He notched his first shutout of the season with three saves in STAC's 3-0 win at Goldey-Beacom. Croce followed up with five saves on the road at Molloy while allowing only one goal to secure a 2-1 Spartans victory in their ECC opener.
  • STAC Holds Off Lions, 2-1

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team continued to keep their win streak alive with a 2-1 victory over Molloy College. Daniel Davren and Renan Lopes scored for the Spartans in the East Coast Conference opener. Sophomore Nicholas Croce had five saves as he picked up his fourth win of the season and first conference win.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat Goldey-Beacom College, 3-0 in this afternoon's contest. STAC was led behind two first half goals from Jorge Mera. Junior Renan Lopes added the third goal with two minutes remaining in the game off a direct kick. Peter O'Malley and Daniel Davren assisted in Mera's first goal while Michael Lincoln notched his first assist on the second goal. Goal keeper Nicholas Croce had three saves as he recorded his first shut out of the season.
  • Spartans Oust Golden Knights, 3-2

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team picked up a come from behind 3-2 win in last nights contest against St. Rose. STAC was down 2-0 before Jorge Mera connected on his second goal for the season at the 25:46 mark. Konstantinos Sapountzis and Chris Hernandez added goals in the second half to steal the win.
  • Spartans Fall to Deacons, 2-0

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team lost their home opener to Bloomfield College, 2-0 this afternoon at the North Rockland Soccer Association. The Spartans Nicholas Croce recorded eleven saves. Senior Jesse Trajkovski had a solid performance on the defensive end of the feild.
  • Spartans Battle to 1-1 Tie at Bloomsburg

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team played a hard fought game at Bloomsburg College coming to a 1-1 tie. Freshman Jorge Mera headed in a ball with seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime. The Spartans held on for the tie through two overtime periods. Goalie Nicholas Croce had five saves for STAC.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to the host Goldey Falcons of Felician College. STAC got off to a quick start with as senior Jon Michael Nabais netted his second goal of the season off an assist from Renan Lopes just six minutes into action.
  • Lopes Notches Two Goals, Spartans Top Hawks 4-3

    St. Thomas Aquinas junior Renan Lopes scored his first goal with just over three minutes into the game off a deflected throw in from Peter O'Malley. Lopes assisted on the next Spartan goal as he crossed a long ball that was headed in by teammate James Earl, putting them ahead 2-0. The midfielder was not quite finished as Lopes headed in a goal of his own early in the second half to give STAC a 3-1 lead.
  • Demshick's Goal Not Enough, Spartans Fall 3-1

    St. Thomas Aquinas freshman Ronald "Jordan" Demshick scored the Spartans first goal of the season giving STAC a 1-0 lead for the first half off an assist by senior Jesse Trajkovski. STAC maintained their lead until Adrian Schippers scored just seconds into the second half to tie the game. Southern New Hampshire added two late goals to take a 3-1 victory over the Spartans.
  • Spartans Drop Opener, 2-0 to Greyhounds

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team lost their first game of the season to Northeast-10 opponent Assumption College. The Spartans gave up a goal in each half, surrendering 2-0 in a match that only had eight shot attempts (Assumption, 5/ STAC, 3). Sophomore goalie, Nicholas Croce recorded one save for the game.

    With thirteen returners back and the addition of nine newcomers the St. Thomas Aquinas men’s soccer team is eager to take the field tomorrow at Assumption College. The Spartans are coming off one of their best seasons (9-5-3) since the program moved to NCAA Division II nine years ago. STAC finished fifth in the ECC just missing out on any post season play. “Our goal is to continue to improve upon where we left off last year,” commented Head Coach Graham Brown.
