  • Student-Athletes Honored at STAC Sports Banquet

    The St. Thomas Aquinas College Athletic Department hosted its Fall Sports Award Banquet on Thursday November 6th. The Spartans honored the student athletes from the men’s and women’s soccer and cross country teams as well as the women’s tennis team.
  • Spartans Lee and Lopes Earn All Conference Awards

    St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team had two players named to the ECC All-Conference Team. Freshmen Remington Lee was selected to the Second Team All-Conference while sophomore Renan Lopes earned Third Team All-Conference. Lee, out of Hopewell Junction, NY also earned ECC Rookie of the Week honors three times this season. Lee was second in scoring and points for the Spartans with five goals and two assists. Both Lee and Lopes led the Spartans with three goals each in conference play. Each player scored game deciding goals in the final three games of the season helping the Spartans to a fifth place finish. Lopes, a sophomore out of Hillside, NJ was third on the team in scoring with three goals and one assist.
  • Remington Lee Earns Rookie of the Week Accolades

    Freshmen Remington Lee was named ECC Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. Lee, out of Hopewell Junction, NY, chased down the ball off a free kick to score the eventual game winner against NYIT as he put the Spartans up 1-0 at the 53 minute mark. The Spartans went 2-0 on the week finishing their season at 9-5-3. Lee finished second in scoring for the Spartans and first in conference play recording five goals and two assists on the season.
  • Spartans End Season Topping NYIT 2-0

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team finished their best season in recent years with a 2-0 win over NYIT. The Spartans end the year with a record of 9-5-3 finishing in 5th place in the East Coast Conference. The Spartans Remington Lee continued with his hot foot scoring off a free kick by Edgar Barrington at 53:00. Sophomore Renan Lopes followed with a goal of his own just five minutes later. Both Lee and Lopes have scored three goals in the Spartans last three games.
  • Spartans Upend Mercy in Record Breaking Season

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat Mercy 3-1 in this afternoons contest. The Spartans won their 8th game of the season which is the most wins under head coach Graham Brown in his six year tenure. The 8 victories also mark a season high for the men's soccer program since the school moved to NCAA Division II. Sophomore Renan Lopes scored two goals in the second half to secure the win.
  • Men's Soccer Lee Earns Rookie of the Week Accolades

    St. Thomas Aquinas freshmen Remington Lee was named ECC men's soccer rookie of the week for the second time this season. Lee scored two goals in Saturday's 4-2 victory over Concordia helping improve the Spartans record to 7-5-3. Lee, out of Hopewell Junction, NY, has four goals for the year and has been instrumental in the Spartans success.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat ECC opponent Concordia in a road game yesterday afternoon. The Spartans received strong offensive play from freshmen Remington Lee who scored back to back goals doubling his season total to four goals. Junior Jon Michael Nabais put the Spartans on the scoreboard at (53:38) recording his first goal of the season. Nabais's goal came off an assist from sophomore Brett Mielcarek. Sophomore Konstantinos Sapountzis scored the fourth goal for the Spartans at (75:25).
  • Spartans Fall 2-0 to Lions

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to visitng Molloy College this afternoon. The Spartans have struggled to score a goal in their last three games. STAC outshot Molloy 17 to 7 but was unable to capitalize as the Lions goalie Ettore Morelli had 12 saves.
  • Spartans Tie C.W. Post in a Thriller

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team ended today's game in a 0-0 tie in double overtime against visiting C.W. Post. The two teams combined for 36 shot attempts and 18 goalkeeper saves in a high intensity game. Both teams played a hard fought game for the full 110 minutes of play. The Spartans move to 6-4-3 overall as the Pioneers pickup their first tie to put them at 6-7-1.
  • Spartans Put Up Tough Fight Against #2 Regionally Ranked Dowling

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team lost a tough battle against the Golden Lions of Dowling College yesterday afternoon. The Spartans were unable to capitalize on their seven shot attempts falling to a score of 2-0. "This was the closest we have played Dowling in years and although it was a loss, it was a great testament to our young team and the future of our program," commented Head Coach Graham Brown.
  • Spartans Drop Close One to Bridgeport

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team lost a hard fought game on the road against the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights. The Spartans fell 2-1 after Brett Mielcarek scored the first goal of the game just five minutes into action. With the loss the Spartans drop to 6-3-2 while the Knights improve their record to 11-2-0 and remain undefeated in conference play.
  • Spartans End in 1-1 Draw Against UDC Firebirds

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team traveled to Washington, DC for a non conference game against the University of the District of Columbia last evening. The Spartans fell behind 1-0 early in the game but were able to rally back behind a goal by senior Gerald Jones to end regulation in a 1-1 tie.
  • Queens Edges STAC in OT

    The STAC men's soccer team lost 2-1 to Queens College in their first conference game of the season. The Spartans who have been on a hot streak for the past three weeks got off to a strong start in the first half outshooting the Knights 13-3. STAC freshmen James Earl's goal at 35:33 put the Spartans up 1-0.
  • Spartans Win Sixth Consecutive Game

    The STAC men's soccer team continued their winning streak with a 1-0 victory over visiting Bloomfield College. Only eight games into the 2008 campaign, the Spartans have already tied last years total number of wins. Sophomore Guiseppe Chiarelli scored the lone goal of the game off a cross by junior Jon Michael Nabais.
  • Andrew Tartara Earns ECAC Goalkeeper of the Week Recognition

    Freshmen goalie Andrew Tartara was recognized as this weeks ECAC defensive player of the week. Tartara is coming off a 2-0 week in which he had 16 saves, while only allowing one goal. The Bardonia native was also named ECC rookie and goalkeeper of the week. The Spartans (5-1-1) are off to one of the best starts under sixth year head coach Graham Brown.
  • Trajkovski Scores in OT to Lift Spartans Past Chestnut Hill

    The STAC men's soccer team keeps their winning streak alive with fifth consecutive win beating Chestnut Hill 1-0 in overtime on the road. Junior Jesse Trajkovski headed in a goal off a corner kick from freshmen Remington Lee. The Spartans recorded their third shut-out of the season and continue to win thanks to their solid defensive play.
  • Tartara Earns Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week Awards

    Freshmen goalie Andrew Tartara has been named the goalkeeper and rookie of the week by the East Coast Conference. Tartara has helped the Spartans (4-1-1) get off to their best start in five years. The 6'1" goalkeeper from Bardonia comes to STAC from nearby Alburtus Magnus High School where he helped them win the 2006 state championship. Tartara recorded sixteen saves and only allowed one goal in the Spartans 2-0 week. STAC is looking to continue their four game winning streak on the road today against Chestnut Hill College (PA).
  • Men's Soccer Still Going Strong

    The STAC men's soccer team won their fourth game in a row 1-0 against Briarcliffe College of Bethpage, NY. Freshmen striker, James Earl scored the goal off an assist by sophomore Peter O'Malley. The Spartans are off to one of their best starts under sixth year head coach Graham Brown.

    The STAC men's soccer team kept their winning sreak alive with a 2-1 victory over visiting Goldey Beacom. The Spartans were led by their top scorer, senior Gerald Jones. Strong defensive play by the Spartan's back field continues to ward off opposing attackers.

    Freshmen Remington Lee was voted as the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for games through September 14th. The STAC men's soccer team went 2-0 for the week outscoring their opponents 9-1. Lee scored two goals and added an assist. Lee, out of Hopewell Junction, NY scored his frist collegiate goal in the Spartan's 6-1 victory over Felician on Wednesday.
  • Men's Soccer Wins Second in a Row

    The STAC Men's Soccer team won their second game of the season this afternoon with a 3-0 victory at cross town rival Nyack College. Freshmen goalie Andrew Tartara recorded his first career shutout. STAC senior Gerald Jones scored the first goal of the game while freshmen Remington Lee and James Earl added a goal apiece.
  • Men's Soccer Earns First Victory Over Felician

    The STAC men's soccer team picked up their first win in Wednesday afternoons home opener against Felician College. Senior Gerald Jones scored three goals in route to the 6-1 victory. With his first goal Jones became STAC's all time goals leader since the school moved to NCAA Division II. Jones currently holds the record with 18 goals for his career thus far. Christopher Hernandez, James Earl and Remington Lee also scored for the Spartans.

    The STAC Men's Soccer team traveled to Manchester, NH this weekend to take on Northeast-10 foe Southern New Hampshire State University. The Penmen got off to a quick start scoring their first goal just under two minutes into the game.
  • Men's Soccer Starts Season with a 2-2 Tie

    The STAC men's soccer team traveled to Bloomsburg, PA yesterday for the first game of the season. The Spartans got on the board first with a goal by senior Gerald Jones. Back and forth goals between the two teams ended the game in a tie.
  • Men's Soccer Season Outlook

    The STAC men's soccer team has something to be excited about. Not only is their team healthy following an injury plagued season, but they have three of their top four scorers back from last year's team. The Spartans will have to make up for the loss of Steven Ocampo who graduated last year as the current all time* leader in goals(15), assists(16) and total points(46). The play of senior Gerald Jones, along with an influx of talented newcomers, will give STAC some new options. Jones is one shy of tying the all time* leader in the goals category with 14 over his three year career. He was the top scorer from the 2007 season with four goals and one assist, playing through injury.
  • STAC Men's Soccer selected 9th in Preseason Poll

    The East Coast Conference announced the Men's Soocer Preseason Poll. The Spartans were selected to finish 9th coming off a 2-7 conference record last season. STAC finished with an overall record of 6-12 and is returning four of their top five scorers from last year's squad. The Spartans were are led by Senior Gerald Jones out of Monroe, NY. The 6'1" Forward led the team with four goals and one assist, combining for a team high nine points.
